at the Truckee Donner Community Pool
When the idea for an indoor pool in Truckee was initiated, the hope was to bring access to swimming year round and to all of our families in the community. After the first and very successful Community Swim Night, we are glad to report that we are getting closer to that goal.
Partnering with the Family Resource Center, Senior Aquatics Coordinator Pete Kristian along with the aquatics staff, planned and organized a night at the pool that was free for all, and included the wide range of activities that the pool has to offer.
Local Agencies signed up to attend and promote their services along with a free health screening from Tahoe Forest Hospital.
Here's a look at all the local agencies that attended:
It was great having the support and interaction from all of these agencies. What stood out throughout the night was how much fun all the kids, adults and families were having in the pool.
In the Lap Pool, the diving board was bouncing kids one after another and on the rope climb the kids were doing their best to get all the way to the roof.
Heading over to the Rec Pool another line of kids were slipping and sliding down our round about slide, the adults were enjoying a fitness class, and the little ones were hanging in the shallow water.
The night was a success where we were able to show off the pool and its features while providing a night out for the community at no cost to the families. We are looking forward to doing another community night and partnering with the Family Resource Center in the near future. Our goal is to continue to provide access to our programs and facilities to all our community members here in Truckee.
See you in the pool!
