Town of Truckee Watercraft Inspection Program
Prior to a watercraft being launched into Donner Lake for the first time for the season, the owner or operator must submit a self-inspection form to the Town of Truckee and obtain an inspection sticker for the watercraft.
You do NOT need a Donner Lake 2023 sticker if you have a current, valid Lake Tahoe sticker and have not entered any other body of water.
Watercraft self-inspections are mandatory for all motorized and/or trailered watercraft launching on Donner Lake through the Town of Truckee ordinance Title 14.
Self inspection forms can be turned into the Truckee Police Department lobby Monday-Friday from 8am - 4pm, and there is no cost for the sticker. You can launch with a currently DL 2023 sticker or a current LT sticker.
If a boat needs decontamination, the Alpine inspection station will be open from May 1 - October 10th from 8:30 - 5:30pm Thursday - Sunday.
OFF SEASON (October-April)
The Boat Ramp is unstaffed in the off season, but not closed to the public. The parking lot and walkway remain open for pedestrian use and fishing. Any boat launching during this time requires self-registration and adherence to all inspection regulations. Required fees must be dropped in the self-service kiosks.
Lake water levels may be extremely low during the off-season; launching of boats may be unsafe. *Use at your own risk.
