April 8 Update

***Outdoor Parks Update***

TDRPD has decided to close the Truckee Skate Park and the parking lots to all of our parks until further notice.

We do not take this decision lightly as we are aware of TDRPD’s importance to public health and activity in our community.

As we saw last week (April 1-April 5) our skate park was not able to handle the amount of people in the park to safely follow the CDC’s social distancing guidelines. We monitored the situation and have decided that there is not enough open space available for the amount of people that were coming into the skate park area. We have posted signage that the Skate Park is Closed. Please help us by abiding by the signage.

As far as our parks, playgrounds and fields, we are keeping the parking lot gates closed in order to help reduce gatherings so that we do not have the same situation arise as there was in our skate parks. We ask again that you please abide by all of our park signage and social distancing guidelines. (UPDATE: To be clear, all of our parks and facilities are closed at this time).

We are all aware of the times at this point, and as a district we understand the sacrifices we are asking our public to accommodate to. It is up to all of us as community members to be personally responsible in following the “Stay at Home” guidelines.

Our hope is that all of our outdoor parks will be open as soon as possible, but we cannot set a date for when that will be at this point. We appreciate all of your cooperation and hope to have our outdoor activity back to normal soon.

Thanks

March 30 Update

***

The entire staff of Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District wishes you the best during this difficult situation. TDRPD originally put out a message that we would open our facilities and programs back up on April 3rd. As we all know that is not a realistic target date at this time.

We will re-open again once the “Stay At Home” order has been lifted, and the professional medical advisors decide it is safe.

Our priority once we re-open is to put our efforts towards opening our outdoor facilities as soon as possible

The Open Registration starting date for Spring/Summer programs has been delayed as well. We will re-evaluate and issue a statement by April 20th with more information at that time.

As everyone knows these are unique and unprecedented times. TDRPD will be part of the solution to get us back to a normalcy. We understand the importance Parks and Recreation has to our community and we will do everything we can to bring our community back to normalcy.

In the interim we hope you are safe until we can see you again.

Sincerely,

TDRPD Management

March 13 Update at 5:00pm

Due to health and safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, all Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District programs and facilities will close for 3 weeks beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3 (Update)Sunday, April 5. (subject to change, please visit our website for updates).

At the time of issuing this statement, there are still no known cases of the coronavirus in our district. As stated previously, we are working in conjunction with other districts including Nevada County Public Health and the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District in the effort to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

We are aware that the Recreation and Park District is often a place of community and safe haven during times like this. However, we are committed to taking the necessary steps to help prevent the spread of the virus and re-opening as soon as possible as recommended by the California Department of Public Health.

We will be issuing credit for any prepaid child care, program participation or facility reservations that are affected during the closure.

Please check www.tdrpd.org for the most current information.

Sincerely,

TDRPD Management
